Wedding Ceremony for joining two families

Our blended family wedding vows

This wedding ceremony pays special attention to the children when two families are blended to create a new family. It can, of course, be adapted to your special needs.

No greater gift has been given us than the love that makes two people one. To behold love growing between two persons is a great joy. In a world where the unexpected happens daily and life falls short of our expectations, it is a wonderful tribute to love that two people join hands in commitment to a life-long journey as a family.

Into this union, BRIDE and GROOM come now to be united forever in a Loving family, joined by ______________ who is here affirming his love for his father, and his acceptance of BRIDE into his life as teacher, guide, and parent.

By joining together in this ceremony of love, all three are saying yes to love, yes to caring, and yes to the family.

This celebration is the outward sign and covenant of a sacred and inward union of hearts. It is created by the loving purpose of life and kept by the abiding will of BRIDE, GROOM and ____________, as they begin life anew from this day forward.

GROOM, is it your desire to take BRIDE as your wife, and do you welcome her as your lifelong companion, best friend, and confidant all the days of your life?

“Yes.”

Will you honor, love, cherish, comfort and keep her, in good times and bad, in sickness and health, all the days of your life?

“I will.”

And do you willingly assume the role of teacher, guide, and parent for ________, preserving the unity of family love with all sincerity and affection?

“I will.”

BRIDE, is it your desire to have GROOM become your husband, and do you welcome him as your lifelong companion, best friend and confidant all the days of your life?

“Yes.”

Will you honor, love, cherish, comfort and keep him, in good times and bad, in sickness and health, all the days of your life?

“I will.”

And do you willingly assume the role of teacher, guide, and parent for Nick and Hannah, preserving the unity of family love with all sincerity and affection?

“I will.”

¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬______________, will you accept and respect the love that GROOM and BRIDE have for you and for each other?

“I will.”

BRIDE and GROOM, you have come to a turning point in life.  Your journey has not been easy.  There have been good days and hard times.  Yet, today, I want you to know, the past is approved.  However difficult your journey has been, it is exactly what was needed to bring you to this moment. Right now, you are accepted just as you are, and your future is open to make of it what you will.

Please turn toward one another and join hands.

GROOM, repeat after me:

I GROOM take you BRIDE
As my friend and love
Beside me and apart from me
In laughter and in tears
In conflict and tranquility
Loving you for who you are,
Trusting what I don’t yet know
In all the ways that life may find us,
But knowing in my heart that we will be forever one.

BRIDE, repeat after me:

I BRIDE take you GROOM
As my friend and love
Beside me and apart from me
In laughter and in tears
In conflict and tranquility
Loving you for who you are,
Trusting what I don’t yet know
In all the ways that life may find us,
But knowing in my heart that we will be forever one.
Exchange of Rings and Gifts
BRIDE and GROOM have chosen these rings to symbolize their vows, and  a gift for _________  to show, how unending is their love.

¬¬__________, may I have the bride’s ring, please?

GROOM, please place your ring on BRIDE’s finger, and let it be a seal of your mutual affection and fidelity.

Repeat after me:

BRIDE, I give you this ring
As a sign of my love and faith
With this ring I marry you
And join my life to yours forevermore.

_________, may I have the groom’s ring, please?

BRIDE, please place your ring on GROOM’s finger, and let it be a seal of your mutual affection and fidelity.

Repeat after me:

GROOM, I give you this ring
As a sign of my love and faith
With this ring I marry you
And join my life to yours forevermore.

Please speak words of love and faith to your children as you present your gifts.
Forasmuch as GROOM and BRIDE have consented together in the bond of marriage, and have pledged their love to one another and to their son - by the joining of hands, the exchanging of rings, and the presentation of gifts—I declare that they are husband and wife, and that they are no longer two, but one, united in love, by the great mystery of life.

Congratulations, you may kiss the Bride and hug your son!

Please turn to face your guests.

It is my great honor to present to you, Mr. and Mrs. ¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬_______________ and family!

Go in peace to love and serve your highest purpose!
